McDonald was sidelined for the remainder of the AFL season but made his return to football for Peel Thunder in the WAFL in Round 20. He showed his AFL experience in Round 21 against East Perth when he gathered 15 disposals and seven marks. The 196cm key defender will aim to make his AFL return in 2025.
