(Delisted) Matera kicked a career-high 30 goals in 2019, the second most for Fremantle and 11 more than the next best at the club. The small forward missed the opening round due to suspension and didn’t return until round three, where he kicked three goals against St Kilda. He had a purple patch in rounds five and six, kicking nine goals in a fortnight to help Freo to crucial wins against GWS and the Western Bulldogs. While Matera made the highlight reels numerous times, his brilliant collect and snap along the boundary against Port Adelaide was arguably the best, earning him a goal of the year nomination.
