With the Doig Medal Presentation Dinner rapidly approaching, fremantlefc.com.au looks at which players are likely to poll well in the club’s best and fairest count at the BelleVue Ballroom at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday 6 October.
David Mundy has won the Doig Medal once, finished runner-up twice and placed in the top five a further four times.
With a season as good as any of his 14 for Fremantle, the midfielder has every chance to take out the best and fairest once again in 2018.
The 33-year-old was arguably Fremantle’s most important player this season.
The midfielder played every game and spent much of his time in the forwardline, kicking a career-high 19 goals for the season.
Mundy’s move forward allowed the likes of first-year players Andrew Brayshaw, Bailey Banfield and Adam Cerra to get midfield minutes under their belt however, when required, Mundy slotted back in to help drive the midfield in key moments.
On top of his many impressive performances, Mundy’s durability in 2018 will likely see him at or near the top of the final leaderboard as one of two players to play every game in 2018.
