First-year midfielder Andrew Brayshaw delivered one of his most impressive games so far this season in Fremantle’s clash with Hawthorn on Sunday, according to Fremantle leader Michael Walters.
On his return from two weeks out with a groin injury, Brayshaw bettered his career-best disposal tally by five with 25 touches while also kicking a goal.
Walters said the performance illustrated how hard Brayshaw works behind the scenes, particularly recently in the rehabilitation group.
“It was his first game back in a number of weeks,” Walters said.
“For him to come out against a quality outfit and have 25 touches, it’s a credit to him and a credit to his preparation and his work in rehab.
“We just need him to keep growing as a player and make sure he backs that up.”
The effort only firms Brayshaw’s chances of earning a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination this season.
So far this year, Fremantle have had two Rising Star nominations in Brennan Cox and Adam Cerra.
