Fremantle leaders David Mundy and Lachie Neale have shared the top vote honours in the Shadforth AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award from Sunday’s win against Port Adelaide at Optus Stadium.
Mundy and Neale collected nine votes each, with senior coaches Ross Lyon and Ken Hinkley allocating votes on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis.
Neale helped Freo get on top in the contest with 18 contested possessions and nine clearances, while Mundy delivered a vintage all-round performance with 29 disposals, 10 contested possessions, eight inside 50s, five tackles and a goal.
Mundy also had an impressive 754 metres gained while Luke Ryan, who collected six votes, had the second most for Fremantle with 710 metres gained.
Ryan also pulled in six intercept marks and was a key ball mover with seven rebound 50s and five inside 50s.
The defender’s 28 disposals was the equal most of his career and his nine-contested possessions was one off a career best.
Fellow second-year player Brennan Cox polled two votes for his two-goal performance. Cox was also vital for Fremantle’s forward pressure, laying six tackles.
Bradley Hill collected one vote in his first game at Optus Stadium since round two with 21 possessions and 608 metres gained.
