Stephen Hill can expect another stint on the sidelines following an injury to his right quad.
High performance manager Jason Weber ran through Hill’s situation, with the midfielder picking up the injury late in the clash between Fremantle and North Melbourne on Sunday at Optus Stadium.
With a grade one tear, Hill is expected to miss two to three weeks.
“Stephen injured his right quad late in the game, it was his left quad that had previously been the problem,” Weber said.
“Unfortunately, sometimes you see this in some athletes, they have an injury on one side, they tend to load shift off that leg so he might have avoided some kicks.
“He had a couple of big kicks with what was a heavy ball on the right leg in the third quarter.
“We can’t be exactly certain if that was the cause but he’s come out with basically a grade one strain in that right quad and he’ll be about two to three weeks.”
Weber confirmed that Bradley Hill was continuing to up his training load.
“Bradley’s up and running, he’s on the field and obviously with the nature of the bone injury he had we can’t push too quickly,” Weber said.
“He’s had another strong week on the field and all things going to plan, we’ll see that load upped next week as he returns closer to a game.”
Matt Taberner is still working in the gym with his injured foot in a boot.
“Matt’s been a bit slow with his foot injury. He’s progressed from a large boot to a smaller supportive shoe,” Weber said.
“He’s got great spirit and is training like a demon in the gym and with his boxing so as soon as we can, we’ll be getting him onto his feet.”
Lee Spurr (knee) is likely to return to football before the round 14 bye with Brady Grey (hamstring) a week or two behind.
“Spurry’s probably a little bit closer than Brady depending on how his knee holds up in the latter stages of rehab,” Weber said.
“Brady’s got a great attitude and progressing quickly. We’re hoping to see him back around the time of the bye.”
