Fremantle rookie Taylin Duman has impressed following his step up to AFL level, according to senior coach Ross Lyon.
Duman made his debut against the Western Bulldogs and performed well in the finals-like atmosphere against West Coast.
The defender, who turned 20 a fortnight ago, is averaging 13.5 disposals from his two AFL appearances.
“Taylin was fantastic, he took a lot out of that on the weekend,” Lyon said.
“He was playing on (Jack) Darling and (Mark) LeCras in his second game in front of 57,000 people.
“He was tight and tough and hard over the ball.”
Fremantle have fielded five debutants in 2018, with all five maintaining their spot in the starting 22 following their selection.
As a result, Freo have named five 2018 debutants in their past two games and Lyon hopes this trend can continue.
“It seemed pretty intense (against West Coast) and they stood up,” Lyon said.
“Every time they play they’re learning.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with them. They just walk in on Tuesday and say ‘I feel fine, keep me going coach’.
“We’ll monitor them closely, there will be a time where (Fremantle rests their young players), but we’d rather manage Monday to Friday and get them up for gameday.
“The sooner we get games into them the better off we are.”
