In her second year at the club, Fremantle AFLW defender Ebony Antonio said she shares a tighter bond with her teammates this year.
“Last year obviously all coming from different clubs, we were just getting to know each other in the off-season,” Antonio said.
“Coming into this season we are definitely a tighter unit and if you don’t have tight friendships off the field it’s going to impact how you play with each other on the field.”
Despite their four-point loss to the Adelaide Crows on Friday night, Antonio said it was a great opportunity to learn from the experience.
“Definitely from that close loss on the weekend we can take away a lot of things from that game and we will outline those in finer details in the review,” she said.
“Every game is an opportunity to grow as a team.”
Although she is well known for playing in the defence line, Antonio said she enjoyed the opportunity to play up forward on Friday night.
“It was fantastic and everyone likes to kick a goal,” she said.
“If that opportunity is there again I would take it.”
With just one round remaining in the NAB AFLW competition, Ebony Antonio hopes her team can get a win against Carlton on Saturday.
“We really want to go out on a high and show our fans that we are a serious team and to be taken seriously,” she said.
“Hopefully we can get the win and take that momentum into next year.”
