Former Fremantle captain and board member Peter Bell was pleased with Fremantle’s effort during the women’s seven-point loss against Brisbane at South Pine Sports Complex on Saturday.
Sitting amongst the home crowd, Bell admitted sitting with senior coach Michelle Cowan’s husband, Chris, as an interesting experience.
“We were both two very nervous watchers of the footy,” Bell said.
“When we scored, we applauded and we seemed to be the only ones in the area who were cheering.
“It was all in good nature but it was great to be out there supporting the girls.”
Despite the hard fought loss Fremantle never looked liked they were out of the contest and Bell was happy with the team's output
“The ferocity of the contest, from both sides was very good,” Bell said.
“I thought particularly in the first half our pressure was outstanding.
“We didn’t hold anything back that’s for sure and our tackling pressure was very good.”
Fremantle will now take on GWS at Fremantle oval next Saturday 3 March at 2.05pm WST.
Bell says the team has improved in 2018 after finishing four rounds with two wins and two losses.
"I have watched every game and I think we’ve made real progress this year,” Bell said.
