Brennan Cox is learning from fellow forward Hayden Ballantyne to harness his potential in Freo’s forward line.
The 19-year-old, who debuted in round 12 against Brisbane and played 12 games in 2017, said his focus for season 2018 was to improve his fitness and continue learning his forward line craft.
“Last year goal kicking was a bit of a struggle for me, but I am working on building on it this year,” Cox said.
“I worked closely with ‘Ballas’ last year and will continue to this year as well as working with Brent Guerra and David Hale.
“My main focus is on my technique and making sure I kick through the ball.
“So, hopefully, it pays off and I can kick a few goals throughout the season.”
Having one year of AFL football under his belt, Cox is keen to lead the way with the club’s new recruits, adding it was good to have a ‘full house’.
“Now the first year’s are here and we working hard together, everyone is on fire,” Cox said.
When asked what advice he has passed onto the new recruits, Cox has kept it simple.
“You need to work hard, keep improving and get into the off-season and work hard and come back fit,” Cox said.
“I have just moved into a new house with Luke Ryan and Taylin Duman so that will be exciting and I cant wait to teach the first year boys a bit about Freo and footy.”
