Fremantle captain Nat Fyfe has been ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Geelong at Simonds Stadium with a bruised sternum.
Fyfe was named in the initial squad of 25 on Thursday but was withdrawn from the final 22 after the team’s main training session today.
Responding to questions about Fyfe’s fitness at his media conference on Wednesday, senior coach Ross Lyon said that the 25-year-old had suffered some bruising but “was not one to make a fuss”.
General manager of football operations Chris Bond said the club was confident Fyfe would be available to play in Fremantle’s round 15 game against St Kilda at Domain Stadium on Sunday week.
“The medical advice was that Nat be ruled out this week,” Bond said.
“We will monitor Nat throughout next week before making a final decision but we believe he will be right to play in the St Kilda game.”
