The key to defeating Brisbane lies in restricting their forward 50 entries, according to midfield coach Anthony Rock.
The Lions average the fewest forward entries in the AFL at 45.2 per game but Rock highlighted their capability of scoring when the ball enters their forward line.
Brisbane has averaged 3.9 inside 50s per goal in 2017, the eighth best in the competition, while Fremantle has required 4.3 forward entries per goal, sitting 15th in the competition.
“They move the ball by hand or foot really quickly and they like to get it into the open spaces and get it into their key forwards,” Rock said on mix 94.5 radio.
“They’re really dangerous once they get it in there.
“If they get it in their forward 50 they lock it in so we’re looking to get the ball back off them before it enters their forward 50.”
Both Fremantle and Brisbane have lost their past two games against the same opponents in Collingwood and Adelaide.
Rock highlighted that Brisbane showed periods of strength in their 80-point loss to Adelaide at the Gabba in round nine, where the Lions held a three point lead at quarter time.
“They’ve been really competitive,” Rock said.
“In the game against Adelaide for the first half they were really strong and quick.”
