Hayden Ballantyne has started running and is progressing well in his bid to return to football after injury his hamstring in round three of the JTL Community Series in March.
High performance manager Jason Weber said the Freo forward is likely to return to full training in the next few weeks.
“Hayden has progressed really well and he is running at a good speed,” Weber said.
“It will be a couple of weeks of hard work before he gets back in the team but he is doing very well.”
After injuring his hamstring in Freo’s round five game against North Melbourne, Weber said Stephen Hill was also tracking along.
“Stephen has made some pleasing progress in the last couple of days,” Weber said.
“He is back up and running and has some good strength back in his hamstring, so things are progressing well.”
Weber is also hopeful Michael Apeness will pass a fitness test and be fit to play for Peel this weekend.
“Michaels’s had a couple of really good weeks of training off the back of his knee injury,” Weber said.
“He will go through full training with the team this week and be available for match selection later in the week.”
Josh Deluca is also making good progress after being out for several weeks with a groin injury.
“Josh has had an unfortunate lay off with some groin problems but they look to have turned the corner,” Weber said.
“He has put some great training in and we hope to see him back in the next week or so.”
