- Game winner Kersten "no hero"
Shane Kersten’s game winning goal against North Melbourne at Domain Stadium has continued Freo’s recent run in the highlight reels with a round five nomination for the Coates Hire Goal of the Year.
The young recruit’s snap has been nominated alongside Joe Daniher’s bomb in yesterday’s Anzac Day clash between Essendon and Collingwood and Luke Dunstan’s soaring goal for the Saints against Geelong.
Kersten is already in the running for the Woolworths Mark of the Year, after earning 44 per cent of the fan vote in round three for his impressive grab against the Western Bulldogs.
Kersten’s mark will go up against Nat Fyfe at year's end, who last week won 57 per cent of the vote for his courageous grab against Melbourne.
Fyfe’s mark beat a leaping Hayden Crozier in round four, who earned 23 per cent of the vote.
