In it's 15th year, the Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by Fremantle Ports, was as vibrant and purple as ever!

Orlena Forsyth, seven, and Tim Timaepatue, 17, joined the team in running trough the banner.

The lead up to the annual charity match was an exciting one, with a number of fans, schools and supporter groups jumping on the fundraising bandwagon.

These efforts came from far and wide, including from long-time Purple Haze supporters in the Dowson family of Kalgoorlie.

The Dowson’s started raising funds for Starlight in 2011, and their efforts have grown every year to the point where they raised $55,000 in 2017 to bring their total donation to over $275,000.

A big thank you must also go out to the Fremantle Dockers Sirens supporter group, who showed enormous support again in 2017, raising more than $20,000 through a number of social events.

Purple Haze Pledges were a big hit among the players and fans again this year, with 25 members of the Fremantle playing group making a pledge.

One notable pledge came from Freo defender Lee Spurr.

Spurr pledged $200 if Matthew Pavlich would make his Domain Stadium return while on the broadcast for Fox Footy - and kick a goal from the 50 while in his suit and leather shoes.

In typical Pavlich style, the club legend accepted and completed the challenge successfully.

In a new initiative for 2017, players and fans were encouraged to purchase a pair of limited edition Starlight Purple Haze shoelaces.

Sales from our shoelaces contributed significantly to our fundraising tally and it was great to see fans and players lace up on game day.

The money raised in 2017 takes the total figure to $1,162,123.35 since 2003.

We thank all of our fans for their continued support of a very special event on the clubs calendar.
