Peel Thunder dropped their first game of the WAFL season with a 43-point loss to South Fremantle at Rushton Park on Saturday.
Eleven Fremantle listed players featured for Peel in the clash and senior development coach Marc Webb reviewed those in action.
Harley Balic
Played on ball for the game and was strong inside the contest with six clearances. Worked hard with seven ground ball gets.
Tommy Sheridan
Played the majority of the game at half-back and was strong with his rebound from the backline. He went to the wing in the last quarter where he had a strong impact.
Brady Grey
Played the majority of the game as a high forward and was strong with his pressure around the contest as well as his release into the forward line. He had five tackles, which is a strong area of his game, and was clean with the ball.
Sam Collins
Played in defence primarily on Ben Sunders, who went goalless for the game. Sam was really good with his direction and his one-on-one ability, as well as rolling off and supporting the backline with his strong defensive work.
Griffin Logue
Played the majority of the game at half-back as a tall back on some of the key forwards such as Mason Shaw and at times Ben Saunders. He started slowly in the first quarter but really built as the game went on. His ball use was a lot more composed after quarter time.
Matt Taberner
Played as a forward and went into the ruck for periods in all four quarters. He had five contested grabs from his eight marks, which was a good effort. Matt got to some good goal scoring spaces, and ended up kicking 1.5 - but was really strong with his ability to win the mark and get his hands on the ball.
Luke Ryan
Played as a half-back in his first game for Peel after a month out from injury. He took a bit of time to work into the game but showed composure with some good execution by foot in defence, and will be better from getting a run in his first game of footy for nine months.
Hayden Crozier
Played as a high forward and was strong again. His pressure around the contest was pleasing and he was able to release forward at times, kicking 1.1.
Sean Darcy
Played in the ruck for the majority of the game with 35 hit outs, and was a strong performer at the centre square bounce with his tap work and follow up. It was a positive performance, and we’ve seen him constantly improve as he works on his running patterns as a ruckman.
Luke Strnadica
Played the majority of the game as a forward and pinch hit in the ruck at times. His ruck work was sound but he missed a few marks that he had taken over the past few weeks. Put in a good effort despite not getting as much of the ball as he has previously.
Brennan Cox
Played forward for three quarters and worked hard to lead up the ground. Didn’t get as much of the ball as he would like, but went down back in the last quarter and showed some composure - taking a strong mark and showing that he can be an option in the backline.
