Ethan Hughes, Tommy Sheridan and Matt Taberner have been added to Fremantle’s TABtouch squad of 25 for Sunday’s clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
Hughes and Taberner are coming off strong performances for Peel against East Fremantle, with Hughes picking up 20 disposals and taking seven marks and Taberner kicking five goals.
Sheridan, who was an emergency in Fremantle’s round one loss to Geelong, is a versatile option that could fill a small-forward role in the absence of Hayden Ballantyne.
Hughes, who played five games for Fremantle in 2016, was signalled out by Lyon in his mid-week press conference for his “strong” Peel performances, stating Hughes was also an option fill a small forward role.
Lyon added that Taberner, who also had eight hit-outs for Peel, was being given the opportunity to “add another string to his bow” in the WAFL by being testing in the ruck.
Sheridan played all but one game for Fremantle in 2016, kicking six goals and averaging just under 19 disposals per game.
The final team of 22 will be announced on Friday at 2:00pm WST via fremantlefc.com.au.
