Fremantle halfback Tommy Sheridan will play his 50^th game on Saturday against Port Adelaide, but is first priority is embracing the challenge, not celebrating the milestone.  

Port are coming off a three point loss to the Western Bulldogs last week and will bring a high level of talent and tenacity to Domain Stadium, according to Sheridan.

“They’re quite a dangerous team after just going down to the Bulldogs and playing with quite a bit of fire in their belly,” Sheridan said.

“They’ve got a number of good players all over the ground.

“They have some dashing halfbacks, some great mids and an All Australian (calibre) forward line so we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

While Sheridan admitted the challenge the visitors present, he said Freo have also acknowledged the importance of focusing on what they can control.

“We’re aware that it’s not an individual game, it’s a team game and we’re worrying about ourselves,” he said.

“We’ve done a lot of homework on Port but we’ve also been working hard on our own structures, game plan and ball movement so we’re really excited by the challenge (and being) back at home in front of our fans.”

Game number 50 has been a long time coming for Sheridan, who debuted in 2012, but the dashing halfback hopes the milestone will be the first of many for Fremantle.

“(Notching) 50 games is great. It’s been a long time coming,” he laughed.

“I’m actually good mates with (Richmond’s) Brandon Ellis who was one pick before me in the (2011) draft and he played his 100^th game last week.

“It’s something you’ll look back on in your career and be quite proud and honoured, but 50 down and I’m looking to accumulate a lot more.”
