The development of Fremantle’s younger players continues to be a bright spot in Freo’s 2016 season, according to Hayden Crozier.
Crozier was one of a handful of Freo’s young crop that performed strongly in Freo’s 34-point loss to St Kilda on Saturday.
The skilful left footer finished with a career-high 24 touches against the Saints and capped off the performance with a mark of the year candidate in the final quarter.

Crozier credited the coaching staff with their development of Freo’s young brigade.
“It’s really good work by the development coaches, they work really hard to push our development and get us into the side,” Crozier said.
“I thought Lachie Weller, Ed Langdon and Connor Blakely have been fighting hard for selection for a long time now and putting in good performances in the WAFL.
“Once they’ve reached the AFL they’ve used their speed, contested ball work and they really competed well again today.”
Talking points after Saints loss
While Freo didn’t get the result on Saturday, Crozier said he’d seen improvements in Freo’s game, especially with their ball movement in the second and third quarters.
“That (ball movement) is what we’ve been trying to implement throughout the year but haven’t been executing,” he said.
“In the second and third quarter we really started playing the footy we wanted to, we moved the ball well and competed hard.
“The coaches have done a fantastic job in teaching us the new game plan and it’s our job to be able to put it together.”
