Anthony Morabito suffered a hamstring injury in Peel Thunder’s game against West Perth on Saturday, but Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber said Freo hope to have him back shortly.
“Anthony pulled up a little sore on his right hamstring during the game on the weekend,” Weber said.
“He has a very small grade strain, so he’s been up and running already and we hope to have him back in a short period of time.”
Shane Yarran impressed in his return to WAFL in round seven after missing time with a knee injury, but experienced some calf soreness after the game, according to Weber.
“Shane has done a fantastic job coming back off the knee, and we unleashed him and unfortunately he just had a small fatigue injury in the calf, but we look forward to getting him back next week.”
Alex Silvagni will miss three weeks with a calf injury, after previously suffering a concussion.
Weber said Aaron Sandilands continues to train well, and a review with his surgeons this week will determine his regime as he targets a return from his rib injury sustained in round three.
“Aaron is training really well at the moment within the limits given by the surgeons,” he said.
“He’ll be reviewed this week by the surgeon and that will set the framework for us going forward, but he’s extremely keen and chomping at the bit to get back in.”
Harley Bennell is working hard to return from his calf injury, and Weber said the midfielder is progressing well and remains on schedule.
“Harley has really progressed in his work and hopefully we’ll see him in the next week out on the field and moving around,” he said.
“He’s done some really good dynamic work and we’re on plan going forward.”
Four-quarter performance required
Key position player Michael Apeness made his return from a long-term knee injury and had a good run in the Peel Thunder reserves, Weber said.
“Michael ran exceptionally well,” he said.
“He did exactly what we asked, we only played him for 60 minutes in his first run in just over a year.
“He’s a little sore this week but we look forward to having him available this weekend (in WAFL).”
