Ross Lyon is confident the Fremantle Dockers are in position to come through the adversity of an 0-5 start and take real positives out of the 2016 season.
“We’re confident that we’ll come through this, and I’m really committed to 2020,” Lyon said.
“We’ll back our people.
“We have a strong coaching team, we’re fully resourced, have a really committed board and executive.
“We’re in this together and we’ll work our way through.”
Out of adversity comes opportunity
Lyon said the Freo supporters have continued to stand strong as a fan base in 2016, and this was evident once again in Sunday’s Len Hall Tribute Game against Carlton.
“When I looked around at the Len Hall game, I was really pleased to see that support,” he said.
“I’ve never seen a club (fan base) embrace a debutant, like (they did) Lachie Weller, Brady Grey and Darcy Tucker.”
While Freo’s season hasn’t gone to plan so far, Lyon said he wouldn’t change his mentality toward what the team can achieve and offered up some words of advice from someone very close to him.
“My mum always told me there’s no such thing as “can’t”, he said.
“You just persist and persevere until you get what you want.”
