Key position player Michael Apeness reached a milestone as he will return to training on Wednesday following multiple knee injuries, according to Freo sports science manager Jason Weber.
“Michael has had a long road to recover with his knee but he’s up and going and into full training,” he said.
“We look forward to more full training for the next fortnight and then hopefully get him into a game.”
Short term pain, long term gain
Aaron Sandilands has returned to Fremantle Oval and has been watching training over the past week, and while Weber said Sandilands still has much work to do to get through his injury, his spirits remain high.
“Aaron’s doing really well,” he said.
“He understands the nature of the injury he suffered, and he still has some work to do medically.
“He’s been in and around the club, in good spirits and we’re looking forward to getting him back when we can.”
Following a demanding contest against North Melbourne on Sunday, Weber said Freo had recovered well and he expects the team to train well throughout the week.
“It was a very tough game, very physical, very fast,” he said.
“We got back late Sunday night, the boys have been recovering well, and we’re looking forward to a strong session (on Wednesday)”
