Fremantle Dockers senior coach Ross Lyon is very familiar with how well North Melbourne are playing right now, with some of the players he’s very familiar with performing particularly well in their 3-0 start to 2016.

Lyon said North Melbourne had used free agency to great effect in building a team that will be a formidable matchup for Freo on Sunday.

“The free agency has been great for them,” Lyon said.

“(Nick) Dal Santo, who I know very well (from St Kilda), and (Jarrad) Waite, who I coached at Carlton two’s, are in career best form.

In addition to the players he’d previous coached, Lyon said the Kangaroos pose a solid challenge due to their healthy mixture of players around the ground.

Match preview v North Melbourne

“They’ve built a list over a period of time that basically has the talls, smalls, mids and rucks,” he said.

“They’ve played in preliminary finals, and are a very strong team.”

Despite scoring 136 points in a high scoring affair against Melbourne last week, Lyon said Freo have reviewed more than just the Kangaroos’ round three win.

Fierce winds at Blundstone Arena in Hobart last weekend resulted in 30 of the games 41 goals being kicked at one end, and Lyon said that while North’s win was impressive, studying the team in the neutral conditions of Etihad Stadium was also important.

“You have to respect their performance, but you look at Etihad Stadium and how they play there more so,” he said.
