Aaron Sandilands’ surgery stemming from his collision in Saturday’s game against West Coast went well and is listed with a six-week injury, according to Fremantle Dockers sports science manager Jason Weber.
“He’s had a great result, and the surgeons are very happy with how it’s progressed,” Weber said.
“We hope to have him out of hospital in the next couple of days, and then on the road to recovery.”
Freo ready for Goldstein challenge
Weber said Freo’s decision to seek other opinions and professional involvement in regards to Harley Bennell has been positive, with the midfielder now having a time frame on his return from a calf injury.
“Harley has been an interesting case, and we’ve worked through the procedures of getting other people’s opinions and other professionals involved,” he said.
“At this stage we do have a time frame (8-10 weeks) and we look forward to pushing him into the team later this season.”
Freo captain David Mundy was a late withdrawal from Saturday’s game against West Coast with a calf strain.
Mundy is scheduled to miss this week’s game against North Melbourne.
“David suffered a small calf strain, but at this stage he’s progressing really well,” he said.
“Unfortunately he’ll be out this week, but we look forward to getting him back into training in the next couple of weeks.”
WAFL Watch: Rd 4 - Coach's comments
Freo big man Michael Apeness is nearing a return to training following a long-term knee injury, while another embattled Freo player, Anthony Morabito, made an impressive return in the WAFL on Saturday.
Morabito finished with 23 disposals for Peel Thunder, with Weber saying the performance was a result of his commitment in his rehab from a hamstring injury.
“Anthony has done a fantastic job in his rehab,” he said.
“He’s worked really hard and has been extremely diligent, and it shows with how he came back and played really well.
“We look forward to expanding his minutes this week, and keeping him on the field.”
