Tommy Sheridan amassed 28 possessions in Fremantle’s two-point win on Sunday, but the line-breaking runner was quick to credit his defensive teammates for their role in the victory.
“We’re all working really well together,” Sheridan said.
“We pride ourselves on being a complementary defence and team.
“So it’s good to see us all working toward what we want to be in terms of ball movement and strong defence.”
Fine tuning required, says Fyfe
The Freo halfback was a constant presence on the day, collecting disposals and spreading the field with his run and ball use coming out of defence.
While he admitted the game wasn’t the prettiest affair, Sheridan he was happy with the result all the same.
“I wouldn’t say it was our best performance but we did some good things,” he said.
“There’s no doubt that the boys gave good effort today, but there were moments where we lapsed a bit.
“At the end of the day it was a bit of an arm wrestle and we’re happy to get the chocolates.”
While Freo faithful would appreciate Sheridan’s contribution to the win on Sunday, the jovial running machine spoke of his admiration for the fans at Mt Barker.
“We really appreciate the support, and were really happy to get the win for them,” he said.
“We absolutely love it down here, and really thank everyone for coming down.”
