With the first NAB Challenge game less than a month away, the Fremantle Dockers are getting into the business end of pre-season according to defensive coach Michael Prior and he's been impressed by the new recruits and familiar faces.
"I really like the first year players and they've adapted really well to the program," he said.
"We've got our experienced guys, especially in defence.
“Cam Sutcliffe, ‘Daws’ (Zac Dawson) have trained really well over the pre-season.
Defender Zac Dawson made the news this past week when he suggested that the days of the ‘hulking forward’ were numbered, a notion that Prior said may have some validity.
Freo list in good health
“He (Dawson) might be onto something, I think he hopes that because he gets to play on them every week,” he laughed.
“Especially with the rotations coming down.
“The big strong bodies need to be able to get up the ground more.”
While Prior admitted the reasoning behind the decline of the big forward made sense, he did not fully commit to Dawson’s theory.
“We’ll just have to wait and see if it’s true or not.”
