New Fremantle recruit Harley Bennell has plenty of fans among the purple army, if the club’s 2015 Annual Members’ Meeting was any guide.
Bennell took to the stage to answer questions in front of more than 100 members at Fremantle Oval on Wednesday night.
The Freo faithful warmly welcomed the former Gold Coast Sun, who Fremantle secured during the NAB AFL Trade Period in October, with a rousing applause.
Bennell, who had his first official day with the club on Monday, said he was looking forward to becoming a valued member of the club.
“I’m happy to be home and really excited for 2016,” Bennell said.
“I can’t wait to play football in front of the crowd at Domain Stadium.
“To have my mum and siblings at all the home games will be a dream come true.”
The meeting also gave members an update on the construction of the club’s new elite training and administration facility at Cockburn Central West.
Fremantle’s first AFL Hall of Fame member Peter Bell's election unopposed to the club’s board, was ratified by the board and formally announced at the meeting. He will commence his term on 1 December.
Bell is also an ambassador for the Fremantle Dockers Foundation.
“It is an exciting but crucial time for Fremantle,” Bell said.
“The construction of the elite training and administration facility in Cockburn Central West is a very exciting project for the club.
“I look forward to supporting the club.”
Director Dale Alcock was voted in as vice president at Wednesday's board meeting, replacing departing board member Ben Allan.
President Steve Harris and CEO Steve Rosich addressed the room and members were given the opportunity to ask the pair questions.
