Nat Fyfe is Fremantle’s first Brownlow Medallist, after a record breaking 2015 season.

Fyfe polled a stunning 31 votes, ahead of West Coast’s Matt Priddis (28) and Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell (26).

The midfielder burst out of the blocks polling 17 votes after the first eight rounds of the season, breaking the previous record of 16 set by two-time Brownlow medallist Chris Judd.

Fyfe polled the maximum three votes on nine occasions, equalling Greg Williams’ record from 1995, on his way to breaking 30 votes for the first time in his career.

“I’m a bit blown away to be honest,” he said.

“It’s greater than me, it’s the Fremantle Football Club, its members and supporters.

“We can take this home and celebrate as a club.

“This is a Fremantle medal tonight.”

Fyfe paid tribute to a number of key people such as the club’s sport science manager Jason Weber, recently departed assistant coach Brett Kirk and, in particular, senior coach Ross Lyon.

“Every time we go out, we are right behind him (Lyon) and his philosophies,” he said.

“I’m very lucky to have him as a coach and as a life mentor.”

Fyfe also made special mention of his family in Lake Grace in southern WA.

“My family have been nothing but supportive,” he said.

“I can’t thank them enough.

“My family and the people from Lake Grace have been incredibly supportive.”

Fyfe thanked the club’s administration and board for its support.

“We’ve had stability across the lines at our footy club, which allows me to play good footy,” he said.

Fyfe averaged 28.7 disposals in his 20 games, the most of any Fremantle player in 2015.

Remarkably, two thirds of those were contested.

Fyfe set a club record for most clearances in a season, with 173 and contested possesions with 356.

He was also named the AFLPA Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row earlier this month.
