With forecast rain and possible hail on Saturday in Perth, fans could be forgiven for watching Fremantle’s nine-point win over Sydney from the comfort of their homes.
But more than 40,000 people packed Domain Stadium.
Fremantle forward Michael Walters said he continued to be amazed by the unwavering support from Freo’s faithful.
Each time he booted three crucial goals, Walters was quick to turn to the home crowd to celebrate.

Walters said Freo fans had stuck by the club for 21 years and the team hoped to reward them soon.
“Our supporters, especially those from day dot, have been through some tough times,” he said.
“We haven’t reached the ultimate success yet but for them to hang on has been fantastic.
“We want to win for them.”
