The City of Fremantle mayor Brad Pettitt is warning those visiting the port city that a feverish epidemic is spreading.
Dr Pettitt said ‘purple fever’ was expected to reach widespread levels ahead of the club’s Qualifying Final against Sydney at Domain Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s been a fairly low-key build up so far but I expect another dose of ‘purple fever’ is about to infect the port city as the AFL finals start this week,” he told The West Australian.
“I’m sure we’ll all catch a dose of it as we did in 2013.”
The City will install 40 ‘Go Freo’ banners while South Terrace will be painted purple #ForTheFinals.
Heritage buildings will be lit with purple LED lighting while local businesses are urged to fly the club’s colours.
