Taberner:
There were glimpses of why Matt Taberner is considered a potential heir-apparent to club legend Matthew Pavlich. He made plenty of contests and ended the game with 15 touches and two goals. The young forward is a promising prospect.
Young guns:
Fremantle is in safe hands, if its next generation of players are anything to go by. Freo had four debutants (Ethan Hughes, Brady Grey, Connor Blakely and Jacob Ballard) plus Alex Pearce and Jack Hannath, who have played just a handful of games.
Hughes was among Fremantle’s best with 22 touches and eight marks in defence, while Brady Grey racked up 20 touches in a strong performance. Connor Blakely had 12 touches while Jacob Ballard had six touches after he came on as the substitute in the final term.
Injuries/reports:
Apart from a few cuts and bruises Fremantle appeared to get through unscathed. A melee in the first half may have a few players considered by the Match Review Panel but the incident was fairly mild.
Next week:
Fremantle and its supporters will quickly shift focus to the first week of the 2015 Toyota AFL Finals Series and a home qualifying final.
