Matthew Pavlich cemented his spot in the history books, during his 333rd game on Sunday.
It moved the club games record holder into equal 20th spot for most VFL/AFL games.
A feat the six-time All Australian never imagined he would achieve when he was drafted in 1999.
“It’s never something that I thought I’d be able to achieve to be honest,” Pavlich said.
“When you’re drafted you hope to play one game, now 16 years down the track I’ve played more than 300.
“It’s not something I reflect upon too much but it’s a proud moment.”
Sunday’s 54-point win moved Pavlich past VFL/AFL legend Leigh Matthews into equal 20th spot with David Cloke (Richmond/Collingwood) and Kevin Murray (Fitzroy).
“It’s extremely humbling really,” Pavlich said.
“It’s quite humbling to see my name next to some of the other guys who have been able to achieve that amount of games.”
Pavlich will also draw level into sixth position for most games as a club captain in VFL/AFL history.
His next game will be Pavlich’s 188th as captain equaling Carlton captain John Nicholls’ record.
The most games in history as captain are Stephen Kernahan (226), Dick Reynolds (224), Ted Whitten (212), Michael Voss (210), Nick Riewoldt (198), John Nicholls (188) and Pavlich (187).
