Garrick Ibbotson may offer Fremantle another forward option heading to finals, after spending time inside-50 against Melbourne.
Ibbotson kicked one goal in Sunday’s win but the flirtation forward could offer Fremantle flexibility heading into the finals.
“Ross (Lyon) said he wanted to try something different to see how I went,” Ibbotson said.
“I don’t think I’ll play forward very often but it’s something different and if need to go forward, I can.”
Midfields David Mundy, Stephen Hill and Michael Barlow, along with defender Michael Johnson, also had brief stints forward.
Lyon said he was impressed by Ibbotson’s work in the front half.
“We liked it, he’s a very confident mark overhead,” Lyon said.
“(He has a) lovely kick…and he hit the scoreboard early.”
