Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says no risks will be taken with key defender Luke McPharlin.
The 2012 All Australian was subbed out of Sunday’s win over the Saints at Etihad Stadium due to a calf injury.
“We’ll work our way through the week, if there is any risk, he won’t play,” Lyon said on Tuesday.
McPharlin has been an important cornerstone in the back six but the possible return of All Australian defender Michael Johnson against West Coast on Sunday could open the opportunity for a cautionary approach.

“We’re in a position to make a really considered decision,” Lyon said.
“(Johnson) is cleared to go, as long as he jumps over the football sessions this week.
“We’ll see where all the pieces are.
“If Luke (McPharlin) is playing, availability comes into it a bit.”
Fremantle play West Coast at Domain Stadium on Sunday 16 August. Bounce down is at 2.40pm.
