Fremantle could make history if it wins Sunday’s highly anticipated Carlton Draught Derby.
For the first time in history, a Fremantle win would draw the clubs level with 21 wins each from 42 games.
It is a remarkable feat, given it took 10 games for Fremantle to finally pip its West Australian counterparts for the first time in round 16, 1999.
Fyfe in, McPharlin in doubt for Derby
A win would also equal Fremantle’s longest winning streak of seven games against the Eagles, set between round 18, 2007 and round 18, 2010.
Fremantle has held the edge over West Coast in recent years, having won 15 of the past 19.
The game is not only for local bragging rights but will be crucial to the final make-up of the top four with just four rounds until finals.
