Fremantle midfielder Michael Barlow said Fremantle’s loss to Richmond at Domain Stadium back in Round 10 was in the back of his mind as his side made amends at the MCG on Saturday.
Freo won the game at the home of football by four points after David Mundy kicked a clutch goal in the final minute.
“It (the loss) sits with you a little bit I think,” Barlow said.
“They were fantastic when they came over to Perth and they were outstanding again to be frank.
“They outplayed us in so many aspects of the game and probably just conversion didn’t go their way.”
These are the best wins: Mundy
Barlow said it wasn’t Freo’s best performance of the year and believes his side stole the victory.
“When the siren went there was a bit of relief and real excitement to get the result,” he said.
“On the periphery, it’s one we’ve sort of pinched off them and just got the result from some will and some hardness.
“Statistically it probably wasn’t a great game for us and there’s some areas of our mechanics that we really need to work on, but you enjoy an AFL win against any other team.
“At the moment we’re just thrilled to get the four points and also excited by the improvement that’s left in our football.”
