Forwards fire
Fremantle’s forwards’ output was down in recent week by their own admission. They fired up under the Saturday night lights with Chris Mayne booting four majors while Matthew Pavlich kicked two in a return to early season form.
Ballas’ injury
The major sour note out of Saturday night’s 42-point win was an injury to All Australian forward Hayden Ballantyne. He was subbed out at half time after he appeared to injure his shoulder in the first term. Senior coach Ross Lyon said Ballantyne was given the all clear by doctors to play on but would get a scan in coming days.
Alex Pearce
The young defender’s promising start to his AFL career continued. His 15 disposals belie his influence on many contests through spoils and pressure on the opposition.
Hit-outs
Aaron Sandilands dominance in the hit-outs continued with 46 out of Fremantle’s to 66. Sandilands remains among the best ruckmen in the competition.
Talking Points from Carlton
Fremantle stayed on top of the AFL ladder with a 42-point win against Carlton
