Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon has hinted that All Australian forward Hayden Ballantyne may spend time in the midfield in coming weeks.
Ballantyne has kicked 10 goals from 12 games this year and was kept to just nine disposals and one behind in Sunday’s loss to Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium.
He has kicked two goals in his past four games.
Lyon told 6PR Sports Today on Monday that Ballantyne was like most small forwards in the competition and his success relied on the team’s work up the field.
“I think he’s a by-product, he’s on the end of it,” Lyon said.
“It’s hard as a small forward, it’s starvation corner.
“I think Hayden is the least of our problems to be truthful.”
Lyon said Ballantyne may move into the midfield against Carlton on Saturday night.
“We might throw him on the ball and free him up a little bit,” he said.

Lyon said flagged potential changes to the side this week.
“I think we’ll look at it, I don’t think you can just roll on,” he said.
“There were certainly some people who thought they didn’t put their best foot forward.”
Fremantle play Carlton at Domain Stadium on Saturday 18 July. Bounce down is at 5.40pm.
