Matt de Boer fought his way back into Fremantle’s best 22 and rewarded the selectors with with a solid comeback game on Thursday night.
 
De Boer has spent several weeks playing for Peel Thunder in the WAFL after starting as the substitute for Fremantle in the first few rounds of the year.

He racked up 21 disposals and three marks in Fremantle’s tight seven-point win over Collingwood at Domain Stadium on Thursday night.
 
“It was a tight game, they were right in it,” he said.
 
“We stood up in the last quarter which is what really matters.”
 
De Boer said while the win was pleasing there were still areas to improve.

“The game was exciting for fans but we don’t like it to be that exciting, so there are a few things to work on,” he said.
 
De Boer played the first six rounds of the year before he spent time with Peel.
 
He said game time was key to him finding form.
 
“I was sub a few times, it was good to go back and get some full games under my belt,” he said.
 
“They’re a great bunch down there, really striving for excellence and it was good to be a part of that.”
