Lee Spurr says curbing dangerous Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott in Thursday night’s blockbuster will be crucial if Fremantle are to win.
Elliott has 25 goals so far this season and has been a key avenue to score for the Magpies.
The talented goal sneak was held to just one goal the last time the teams met in Round 1, 2014, with Fremantle prevailing by 70 points.
Spurr said Elliott was a tough opponent to beat.
“He works really hard, he has a great leap and launch,” he said.
“He works up and down the field…he is a tough opponent and in good form.
“You have to do everything you can to try and stop him.”
Spurr said the key for Fremantle to overcome Collingwood’s potent forward line was pressure up the field.
“If the ball can come in not lace-out, not perfect, that gives the defenders a good chance,” he said.
Fremantle play Collingwood at Domain Stadium on Thursday 25 June. Bounce down is at 6.10pm.
