Fremantle face a selection dilemma this week to find a replacement for injured defender Michael Johnson ahead of the Gold Coast.
Johnson was subbed out of his milestone 200th game against Richmond on Friday with a hamstring injury in the first quarter.
Johnson injury update
He is facing up to 10 weeks on the sidelines and it puts added pressure on Fremantle’s already low defensive stocks.
Defenders Zac Dawson (broken thumb) and Alex Silvagni (hamstring) are not expected to be available for up to seven weeks.
Veteran defender Luke McPharlin also missed two games earlier in the year due to calf soreness.
Young defender Alex Pearce, who debuted in Round 6, has been sidelined with back bruising.
The versatile Tendai Mzungu continues to push his claim for selection with a classy 20 disposals for Peel Thunder on Saturday.
Fremantle were forced to rotate forwards Chris Mayne and Matt Taberner through the backline after Johnson was subbed out.
Lee Spurr, who missed Freo’s 27-point loss to Richmond due a corked leg, is expected to return against the Suns.
