There is pressure on for spots at Fremantle this week with goal sneak Hayden Ballantyne available and another strong performance by Peel Thunder in the WAFL.
Thunder secures record-breaking win
Ballantyne is available for this week’s match against Melbourne after serving a two-game suspension.
Senior coach Ross Lyon told 6PR on Monday night that there is competition for spots after the side’s unbeaten start to the year.
“We are dog hungry, we are fit and I know there is pressure on for spots,” he said.
'Dog-hungry' Freo to go all out: Lyon
“If Hayden (Ballantyne) is available and our Peel boys were really strong again, there were some good performances by (Hayden) Crozier and (Tommy) Sheridan.
“We are in a reasonable position."
Lyon also praised Tendai Mzungu, who started as the sub in Saturday’s 14-point win over Sydney.
“He had the legs to close some spaces,” he said.
“He’s desperate to be part of the team, he didn’t get a huge opportunity but he contributed when he came on.”
Fremantle play Melbourne at the MCG Sunday 3 May. Bounce down is at 1.10pm.
