Nat Fyfe starred again in Freo’s 14-point win over Sydney but the midfielder says the team needs to avoid big momentum shifts in games.
Fyfe was among the best on ground with 27 touches including eight clearances.
A talking point of the match will be Sydney’s rampant comeback after half time with five unanswered goals.
Fyfe said Freo was expecting last year’s grand finalist to respond to a poor first half but said Freo needs to better combat shifts in the game.
Fyfe flying high
“They’re a benchmark team, so to get a win over them at home is fantastic,” he said.
“We knew they were going to turn it around, their contested ball work and clearance work was first class.
“We need to try to avoid having big shifts like that in games.”
Fyfe said it was important to get four points whether playing a finals contender or not.
“Four points is four points,” he said.
“We thought we’d honour the occasion with some really good effort and in front of a packed house.”
