Cam Sutcliffe says the culture being forged by the playing group was a big reason behind his decision to sign a three-year contract extension with Fremantle.
The 22-year-old South Australian will be at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.
Sutcliffe, who was drafted at pick 71 in the 2011 National Draft, said it was always his intention to sign with the club.
“I’m over the moon,” he said.
“We’re obviously building a really strong culture within the group, and I feel with the way the club is heading in an upward direction, that’s something that I want to be involved in.
“(And) Freo’s a really nice place, I love living here.
“I’m really happy.”
Sutcliffe said the strong panel of coaches at the club was also a major factor in his decision to sign.
“All the coaches that we have at the minute are top class,” he said.
“They help you out with everything.
“It’s a really good development academy as well. Coming through that and emerging now into a better player myself, it’s been very good.”
Fremantle general manager of player management Brad Lloyd was pleased the club was able to secure the 22-year-old.
“Cam has worked really hard since he arrived at Freo,” he said.
“He has been extremely focused and committed to his football from the day he walked into the club, which has led to his continued development as a player.
“He’s become an important member of the senior playing group and to have him commit to the club until the end of 2018 is an exciting result for both the football club and for Cam.”
