There was plenty of Christmas cheer at Fremantle Hospital on Friday afternoon when Hayden Crozier joined Freo’s new recruits for the Children’s Ward Christmas Party.
In what is now a yearly tradition for the club’s first-year players, fourth-year player Crozier said being able to spend the afternoon giving back to the community was a privilege.
“We are a bit lucky in what we do and to come down here and see a smile on the kids' faces, it brightens our day,” he said.
“Not only for the kids but also the parents, they are going through a pretty tough time at the moment so anything we can do to help out is great.
After a hard training session this morning, the players were again taken out of their comfort zones, being asked to join the choir on stage to sing Christmas carols.
“I remember having to do that the first year I came,” Crozier said.
“I can’t say I would be on ‘X-Factor’ with my voice, but I think the guys did pretty well.”
Crozier said he got a lot out of the hospital visit.
“I have never broken a bone in my life, so touch wood it stays that way,” he said.
“There is nothing better than coming in and putting a smile on their faces, it brightens their day and definitely ours.
“To be able to give back is great.”
