Fremantle’s round 23 game against Port Adelaide will be played at 1.10pm on Saturday 30 August at Patersons Stadium.
The AFL has attempted to schedule round 23 matches involving potential top eight teams on the Friday or Saturday to maximise fixture options for week one of the 2014 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
The earlier timeslot will also enable Port Adelaide, which is the only current top eight side travelling in round 23, to return home by Saturday night and maximise its break leading into a potential final.
Freo will have to face the Power off a six-day break after returning from a Sunday game in Brisbane in round 22.
The Perth-Brisbane trip is the longest in the AFL.
In other round 23 games, reigning premiers Hawthorn play Collingwood on the Friday night, while the Sydney-Richmond and Geelong-Brisbane matches will take place on Saturday evening.
Gold Coast and Adelaide are the only top eight contenders who will play on Sunday.
The AFL stated, although both clubs might be playing for a top-eight finish in round 23, neither was currently cemented in the final eight and that each would be playing at home, thus providing an adequate break before the finals, should they qualify.
Round 23 will mark Freo's annual Member Recognition Game.
Enhance your game day experience by attending the members' pre-game lunch. Enjoy a two-course meal in the Bill Walker Room at Patersons Stadium, while hearing from guest speakers including Fremantle Dockers players.
Tickets to the function are on sale now.
Match tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster on Monday 18 August at 9am WST.
