Number 10 – Saturday 8 April, 2000 – The debut game

Fremantle unveiled its number four selection from the 1999 National Draft in round 5, 2000.

Matthew Pavlich made his debut against Melbourne at the WACA, and he set the tone of what was to come by kicking two goals from his first two kicks.

He ended up with 10 disposals, three marks and added two behinds to his goal tally.

Freo lost the game by 31 points, but the career of the club’s greatest ever player had begun.

Pavlich went on to kick a total of seven goals in his next three games to stamp himself as one of the most promising young forwards in the game.
