Michael Barlow has signed a two- year contract extension that will see him commit to the club until the end of season 2016.

Barlow was an integral part of the team in 2013, his performance in Fremantle's qualifying final win against Geelong, where he had 32 disposals and three goals, was a stand out.

The 26-year-old was recruited from Werribee in 2009 as a rookie and  was elevated to the senior list after an impressive pre-season which saw him debut in round one the following year.

General manager of player management Brad Lloyd said Barlow had been outstanding since joining the club.

“He has represented the club well in big games and shown enormous resilience to get through a major setback a few years ago to return and play quality football in recent seasons,” Lloyd said.

“We are delighted to see him commit to the club until the end of the 2016 season.”

Barlow only missed one game in 2013, with a jaw injury ruling him out of the round 14 match against Geelong.

The midfielder said he was keen to get a contract locked away before the 2014 season started.

"It’s a really exciting time and I was pretty keen to get it done as soon as possible. I haven’t really been leading into a season out of contract,” Barlow said.

"Having it all sorted before Christmas means I can prepare really well for 2014 and that’s my sole focus.”
