The Fremantle Dockers arrived in Melbourne on Thursday night ahead of Saturday’s AFL Grand Final against Hawthorn.

The club boarded the Virgin Australia jet at 3pm WST amid a huge send-off at Perth Airport.

Michael Barlow was overheard telling supposed Harry Styles lookalike Lachie Neale that the crowd was there to see him and his One Direction band mates, who were also at Perth Airport on Thursday.

Flying towards the night, the plane touched down at Tullamarine Airport at 8.55pm EST.

In what was a smooth flight across the country, players passed time by studying match vision on their laptops or standing in the aisle to stretch out.

One man who stood for a large chunk of the journey was 211cm ruckman Aaron Sandilands. Even the more spacious premium seats at the front of the plane aren’t that comfortable for a man of ‘Spider’s’ size.

Players’ family members and club staff joined the football team on the flight, however the playing squad was quickly ushered onto a bus upon arrival in Melbourne and driven straight to the team hotel.

A recovery session in the morning will precede the GrandFinal Parade, which will commence at 12.00pm in St Kilda Road, adjacent to the Victorian Arts Centre, travel north into Swanston Street, right into Collins Street and conclude with the presentation of players on the steps of the Old Treasury Building in Spring Street at approximately 12.50pm.
