When he retired at the end of the 2012 season, Antoni Grover told Docker Mag he felt he’d left a club that was close to achieving the ultimate success – a premiership.

Since debuting in 1999, he’d given everything to Fremantle in his 202 games, but he never got to experience his dream of playing on the last Saturday in September.

Grover told Docker if Fremantle ever did win an AFL Grand Final, he’d be “the first one there banging down the door trying to get into the change rooms”.

Following the Preliminary Final win over Sydney, the tough defender was in the Patersons Stadium rooms to congratulate his old comrades.
“I’m so proud of them,” he said.

“It all started from the Geelong game, I think that effort was the catalyst to give us the opportunity to be there at the MCG on Grand Final day.”

While he won’t officially be a part of the team, don’t tell Grover he’s not a Fremantle Docker.

“I'm in contact with a lot of these boys fairly often,” he said.

“I've learnt the game plan with Ross Lyon and I've spent time with a lot of these guys, so everyone that will play out there on Saturday, I've played with.

“It's an amazing effort and I feel a part of the journey.

“I'm just so proud of what the boys have achieved and I’ll be cheering as loud as anyone.”

The MCG might want to reinforce those change room doors if Freo gets up.
